Do I get a transcript as well as the audio?
Yes, on the Essential plan and up. Every episode is stored with its transcript, so you can search the wording afterwards or paste a passage into your notes.
What happens to a PDF that is mostly charts or images?
pluCast works from the text it can extract, so a document carrying its meaning in figures gives the hosts less to discuss. A scan with no text layer gives them nothing at all — run it through OCR first, or start with a PDF whose text you can select.
Does the episode cover the whole document or just the highlights?
It is a discussion, not a recital. The hosts follow the document's argument and the evidence behind it rather than reading every page, which is what makes a dense paper listenable in one sitting.
